“The Eltville Collection is a heritage project serving one of the few vineyards from the Rheingau with historical, original, old riverbed soil. Furthermore, the Riesling clones date back to 1900 so it is also a heritage project in terms of Riesling genetics and taste. I think we live in extremely fast times with regards to the extinction of species’ genetics and original taste and, to me, this is world heritage that needs to be protected and preserved, for us and for future generations. Restoring this old vineyard happened under lots of attention, love and care, and came with a high investment to restore the vineyard to be financially able not to sell the wines straight away. And to build it up and strengthen it for the future under climate change challenges which led to the idea of planting trees.”
